Why will ‘How Do You Live?’ be released without any promotions?
It has been revealed that the makers of How Do You Live? feel that fans of filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, who is set to retire, will want a low-key release to the film.
In an interview with Japanese magazine Bungei Shunju, which was translated by the Hollywood Reporter website, the film’s producer Toshio Suzuki said How Do You Live? would be released with “no trailers or TV commercials…no newspaper ads either” because “deep down, I think this is what moviegoers latently desire”.

About ‘How Do You Live?’
The film is inspired by and not an adaptation of the 1937 novel of the same name by Genzaburō Yoshino. Filmmaker Miyazaki has reportedly been involved in the film since 2016, after coming out of his previously announced retirement.
