As many as 36 people were injured, out of which 11 were in serious condition when high turbulence rocked the Hawaiin Airlines Flight HA35 when it was about to land at Daniel K Inouye Airport in Honolulu. A spokesman of Hawaiin Airlines said that they are investigating the incident and that there were 278 passengers on board at the time, with 36 injured and 11 rather grievously.

There were injuries like significant cuts, bruises, and fainting; a few were wounded in the head. The weather was nasty when they landed, and thunderstorms raged then. The COO of Hawaiin Airlines, Jon Snook, felt grateful that there weren’t any fatalities. Turbulences occur frequently, and it’s no big deal. All airlines landing in Hawaii were facing a problem. Jaycie Hayata Ano, a passenger aboard the Hawaiin, felt a little awkward when the turbulence hit as they were all very much floating around on their seats. Turbulence, after all, is such that no one can be blamed for it. Safety girders can be improved on routes known for bad weather and turbulence. It was surreal for her that people were getting wounded and falling around them. The airline people said that a detailed servicing and inspection would be carried out before the aircraft is commissioned to fly again.

FAQs:

  1. What to do about turbulence while in a plane?
Fasten your seat belt, and sit in the brace position to avoid injuries.
  2. Do turbulence cause air crashes?
No matter how extreme, the turbulence does not crash planes and certainly not in modern times.
