Allegations of Censorship

At least 14 conservative users have claimed that their blue verification badges were revoked, which resulted in a loss of monetization options and other premium functionalities. Apart from Loomer, some other affected include those of Ryan Fournier, and Gavin Wax. These changes occurred shortly after Musk engaged in a public feud with some Republicans over immigration policies, specifically criticizing anti-immigration sentiments within the party. Musk referred to some of these critics as "contemptible fools" and "hateful, unrepentant racists," further escalating tensions among his conservative followers.

Loomer specifically pointed out that her blue verification badge, which confers certain privileges like monetization and enhanced visibility, was removed, along with the deactivation of her subscriptions. This has fueled accusations of "retaliatory censorship" against Musk, with Loomer stating, "I didn’t do it. Why would I cancel my own subscriptions?".


Critics argue that this move by Musk is not just a technical glitch but a calculated effort to silence dissent against his immigration stances. In response to the criticism, Musk has dismissed Loomer as "trolling for attention," which has only escalated the debate.
