Monday marks the beginning of the second week of testimony in the Utah civil lawsuit between actress Gwyneth Paltrow and a man who has accused her of carelessness in relation to a ski accident in 2016.

Before the case is turned over to Paltrow's attorneys to offer their defence, lawyers said on Friday that the trial will continue with evidence from Terry Sanderson, the retired optometrist who is suing Paltrow.

Apple Martin and Moses Martin, Paltrow's children, and TV producer Brad Falchuck, Paltrow's husband, might potentially appear in court on Monday.

Sanderson, 76, claims that Paltrow collided with him as they were both skiing on a beginner's route on a Utah mountain, leaving him with permanent injuries and brain damage. Moreover, according to Sanderson, Paltrow and her ski instructor left the scene of the accident without seeking medical attention.

In retaliation, Paltrow sued Sanderson in 2019 and claimed he had skied into her.

The two have been involved in a court dispute for seven years.

Paltrow reaffirmed her claim that Sanderson skied straight into her back and caused the crash throughout the almost two hours of testimony on Friday while being questioned by Kristin A. VanOrman, Sanderson's attorney.

She said that two skis forced her legs apart and that she heard a "grunting noise" as a person pressed against her back before they both fell to the ground at the same time.

After their collision, Paltrow said she did not inquire about Sanderson's health but instead waited on the mountain "long enough for him to indicate that he was Alright" and to rise up.

Initially suing Paltrow for $3.1 million, according to court documents, Sanderson later amended his claim and is now seeking damages of more than $300,000.
