Guillermo Del Toro believes 'stop-motion' is perfect way to tell story of Pinocchio
Guillermo Del Toro is surprised that the Stop motion animation technique has not been tried in the earlier versions of Pinocchio. It (the method) is the most appropriate best for the fable about the wooden puppet.

A Different Take
The location of Del Toro's version of Pinocchio is the fascist Italy of Mussolini and the period is the 1930s. Everyone is seen acting and moving like a puppet. The Pinocchio puppet, however, is high-tech creation with a 3D-printed body and face replacements.
For the characters, Del Toro took inspiration from traditional Mexican folk art to create designs that perfectly matched the emotions of the characters in the story.
Pinocchio will be released at the London Film Festival this weekend, and the film will have a special presentation at L.A.'s Animation film festival on October 29.
