GTA 6 update: Will PC gamers face a longer wait than console players?

Since Rockstar Games officially unveiled GTA 6 in December 2023, there has been no confirmation of a PC release, leaving gamers wondering if they'll have to endure a long wait.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games, has recently confirmed that GTA 6 will be released on consoles.

The company also reiterated that the highly anticipated game remains on track for its original Autumn 2025 release window, expected between September and November.

But it did not disclose a specific date for the launch event.

According to TweakTown, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “GTA 6 is a console release, and we know what the current console base looks like.”

Letdown for PC gamers

As reported by Gaming Bible, gamers with older consoles will be unable to play GTA 6, as the game will only be supported on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In addition to this, PC gamers will also miss out on Grand Theft Auto 6. Since the official reveal of GTA 6 in December 2023, Rockstar Games has yet to announce any plans for a PC version.

A waiting game

When it comes to Rockstar Games titles, PC versions are usually released long after their console counterparts. GTA 5, for instance, arrived on PC a full 19 months after its initial console launch — while the console version debuted in September 2013, the PC release followed in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 took 13 months to make its way to PC after launching on consoles.

Fans can’t wait

Although Take-Two did not unveil a new trailer or even a screenshot in its latest financial report, fans found some reassurance in the confirmation that GTA 6 remains on track for its original Fall 2025 release. However, the lack of fresh teaser material has left many eager followers expressing their frustration.

One X user, cited by Gaming Bible, wrote, "Trailer two is desperately needed next month at least." Another said, "Can we at least get some new art or screenshots or anything? 14 months of being silent is very annoying."
