Google suffers setback in court fight against EU fine
Europe's competition commission has fined Google €8.25 billion for antitrust violations. While reducing the fine from €4.34 billion to €4.125 billion, Europe's second-highest court mainly upheld the original decision.

EU's General Stance
The EU General Court largely concurred with the Commission's conclusion that Google had acted unfairly by forcing mobile phone makers to pre-install its search engine and Chrome apps on devices to carry its Play app store. Additionally, Google placed limitations on mobile network providers.
According to the court, the general court accepted the Commission's finding that Google imposed unlawful limitations on makers of Android smartphones and mobile network operators to consolidate the dominating position of its search engine.
Google, which has the right to appeal to the European court of justice, the top judicial in the EU, in legal matters, expressed its displeasure.
A spokesperson said they regret that the court did not completely overturn the ruling. Android has increased choice for all users, not decreased it, and it helps thousands of prosperous companies in Europe and other parts of the world, according to the spokeswoman.
