Good Omens Season 2 finale: Aziraphale and Crowley getting romantic, and the cliffhanger

Good Omens, the series is based on the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Good Omens Season 2, starring Michael Sheen, David Tennant, and Jon Hamm, premiered on July 28, 2023, on Amazon Prime Video. Here’s what happens in the second season.

In Good Omens, Sheen and Tennant reprise their roles as best pals Aziraphale and Crowley, who fight the apocalypse and demons. Although adapted from the book, the second season of Good Omes is a little different from the printed matter.

The series, which was supposed to be a ‘limited edition’, was renewed for a second season.


Neil Gaiman had then said there will be a sequel, but Terry Pratchett passed away in 2015.

“It’s 31 years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel,” Neil Gaiman said in the statement from Amazon.

“I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens — that’s where our angels came from. Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens, and where the story went next,” he revealed.

Plot of Good Omens Season 2

The Season 2 of Good Omens, written by Neil Gaiman and John Finnemore, goes further back in time when Crowley and Aziraphale’s friendship did not exist in its present form.

In the six-episode Season 2, Aziraphale and Crowley try to find out why the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) appeared at Aziraphale’s bookshop in London with amnesia, while also shielding him from Heaven and Hell.

In the Good Omens Season 2 finale episode, it’s finally disclosed that archangel Gabriel was in a romantic relationship with Beelzebub (Shelley Conn), the head demon.

Due to Crowley and Aziraphale’s intervention, in the first season of Good Omens, Heaven and Hell decided not to pursue a second apocalypse.

Gabriel fought the idea but the other angels wanted to wipe his memory off and his angelic powers as well. So, to avoid that, Gabriel tries to temporarily erase his memory himself and stock it in flu, which he can find again.

Gabriel’s memory is returned with the help of Beelzebub and they quit their employers Heaven and Hell.

Aziraphale and Crowley romance

Meanwhile, Crowley and Aziraphale are getting new job offers. The Metatron, an angelic authority, wants Aziraphale to work for them. Crowley is being sought for a job by shopkeepers Maggie (Maggie Service) and Nina (Nina Sosanya). The women also ask him to not avoid his romantic feelings for Aziraphale.

Will Crowley and Aziraphale be a couple? Probably, but they have their differences over the latter wanting to accept a job running Heaven.

Crowley wants Aziraphale to leave Heaven after the torture they’ve witnessed and been through at Heaven and Hell’s hands.

Crowley does not want to carry on to Heaven with Aziraphale, so, to convince him to stay, he kisses him. Aziraphale is not amused. “I forgive you,” he tells Crowley.

The two soon separate, in what could be a break-up even before their romance began.
