“God of War Ragnarök”: New Japanese promos mislead about game
The marketing for “God of War Ragnarök” has ramped up in anticipation of its release, but the game's most recent ads have taken an unusual turn. The Japanese marketing for Resident Evil Village turned the game's band of deadly bad guys into cuddly...

The beautiful hand puppet Kratos has been replaced in the commercial with three gentlemen singing a happy song over game footage of a sad Kratos doing extremely horrible things. The singers seemed to be having a blast the entire time, and the cartoonish stage could have easily fit into a CBeebies show.
That's a peculiar take on the context, considering that the God of War games often doesn't evoke feelings of joy and merriment. While Kratos has toned down his homicidal tendencies since the previous game, he still has a lot of unresolved emotions to deal with, and few are holding their breath that God of War: Ragnarök will drastically alter the series' tone.
For some reason, while being around a minute longer than the Japanese version, it has far less gameplay footage. Instead, it spends the entire running time on a father child support group virtually with Ben Stiller disguised as Kratos.
