Global IT Outage: Why did Elon Musk mock Microsoft?
Entrepreneur Elon Musk took to X and mocked Microsoft after an IT outage disrupted services across the world. He shared two posts on his social networking site. The issue which caused the IT outage has been fixed.

The IT outage has now been fixed but it did attract the attention of the Tesla Founder who also owns other companies including Space X and X which is a social networking site. The two posts on X went viral with many social media users commenting and re-sharing these tweets. Crowd Strike which is the cyber-security firm which dealt with the issue witnessed a fall in its stock price in the US.

Musk took to X and re-tweeted a post of his from October 2021 which read Macrohard >Microsoft. This random post went viral immediately after being tweeted. Many users called on Musk to build something better and while another said that “Elon was right”. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 19, 2024
In a separate post, Musk shared a photo which said that while everything else is down, this platform (referring to X) was up and running. The photo depicted a scene with compete chaos everywhere with one individual relaxing in the background. The chaotic scenes carried the logo of Microsoft whereas the person relaxing can be seen sporting the logo of X. Musk shared it with a laughter emoticon.

IT Outage:
On Friday, Azure Cloud Platform which is operated by Microsoft experienced an outage leading to a slowdown in the services offered by the cloud platform, across the world. It is believed that a corrupted update file led to this slow down. The bug was detected by the Cyber Security firm Crowd Strike. They said that the system has been isolated and is being fixed by the team. They denied that this was a cyber-attack or a security incident. The Mac and Linux hosts were not impacted by this bug. Further, while the update has been fixed, the effects of this is expected to continue for the next few weeks. Users are expected to face a slowdown in the services offered by the servers.
