Glen Cove School guard suffers grave injuries after being hit by car

The 58-year-old Glen Cove crossing guard was critically injured after being hit by an SUV while on duty, said the police.

Carlos Vasquez, employed by the Glen Cove Police as a school crossing guard at the K.A. Deasy Elementary School, was hit by a car. The very kind and polite policeman was known to many parents who had their children in school. The guard was known to be very kind and affectionate with the children in the vicinity, and their parents, too, spoke to him often.

Police said that Vasquez was going to help a parent cross the street when a white SUV hit him. The policeman immediately fell and suffered severe head injuries. This led people to call for emergency help, and the gentleman was airlifted to the hospital due to the seriousness of his injury. The person who struck Vasquez is an 82-year-old gentleman who is cooperating with the police in every way possible.

The police have informed us that no charges are being brought against the car driver for causing the injury. People of the community living around K.A. Deasy Elementary School have been praying for Vasquez.
