Gladiator 2 or Gladiator II will be releasing in November for global audience but initial reports have claimed that Ridley Scott's epic saga may headline the next year's Oscars award ceremony.

Gladiator 2 so far has received overwhelming positive responses from audience and voters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), as per a report on Variety.

There was a sense that director Scott, who had been nominated for Oscars' "Best Director" category thrice, may become a frontrunner this time for Gladiator 2. "Gladiator II" features Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, and Fred Hechinger in pivotal roles. Apart from "Best Picture" and "Best Director" segments, Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington can also land nominations in their respective categories in the next year's Academy Awards, according to the report on Variety.

Meanwhile, the recently released trailer of the highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's 2000 classic starring Russell Crowe promises to take the audience to ancient Rome, where power, revenge, and honour used to reign supreme. The trailer opens with visuals of Ancient Rome, ruled by tyrannical emperors.

The trailer shows Roman soldiers led by General Marcus Acacius invade and force Lucius into slavery. Lucius (portrayed by Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the emperors who rule Rome with an iron fist.

Lucius is in a fight for survival, and to settle the scores, he forms an alliance with Macrinus, who is a Roman power player, played by Denzel Washington. Final moments show Lucius, preparing for a showdown that will determine the future of Rome.

"Gladiator II" is set to be released in theatres on November 15.
