According to the announcement made at AnimeJapan 2023, the second season of "Girlfriend, Girlfriend" is confirmed to debut in October this year. The exact release date is still unknown. Aoi Koga will be featured in the series as Risa Hoshizaki, the younger sibling of the protagonist, Rika Hoshizaki (or Mirika). The animation studio, SynergyP, will produce the sequel.
Last September, the second season of the series was announced, with Suzuki Takaaki serving as director and Keiichiro Ochi as the scriptwriter. Shoko Hagiwara is responsible for adapting the character designs from the manga created by Hiroyuki, which debuted in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2020.

Takatoshi Suzuki, known for his work as an episode director for "A Couple of Cuckoos" and "The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These," will take on the role of director for the new season at Synergy SP.
