Born on October 14, 2008, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mora plays as an attacking midfielder for Liga MX side Club Tijuana. He made his professional debut in Liga MX at age 15, even scoring his first goal that season to become the youngest goalscorer in the league.
At 16 years and 257 days, Mora surpassed the previous record holders - Luiz Perez and Rafa Marquez - with both making their debuts at the age of 17. His national team journey began earlier this year in friendlies, but the Gold Cup quarter-final marked his first official senior appearance.
Mora's rise also caught international attention with European clubs like Barcelona, Ajax, Manchester City, PSG and AC Milan monitoring his progress since his early days at Tijuana.
"Honestly, I’ve been enjoying every training session. I knew the opportunity would come eventually, and I think I had a good game," Mora said. "My teammates gave me a lot of confidence. Edson Álvarez especially told me to just do what I know how to do."
Having represented his country with the U-15, U-16, and U-17 national teams, Mora is now making waves at the senior level.
"He is making history. Mora has a great mentality, he is a valuable asset for us. He’s well-mannered, respectful, and eager to learn. He passed the test in his debut," Javier Aguirre, Mexico's head coach, had said after the Saudi Arabia game.
