Supermodel and reality television star Gigi Hadid was arrested on July 10, 2023, along with a friend named Leah Nicole McCarthy in the Cayman Islands. The two were held for alleged possession of marijuana at the Owen Roberts International Airport by the authorities who checked her baggage.

Gigi and Leah were kept at the Prisoner Detention Center and later released on bail.

Gigi Hadid and Leah traveled via private airplane and landed at the Owen Roberts International Airport General Aviation Terminal on July 10. As per the rules, their luggage was checked and processed by a Customs and Border Control Officer.

Authorities found some items that could be used for cannabis consumption, and suspected the two friends were importing cannabis to their country. Hence, Gigi and Lead were arrested.

On July 12, 2023, Gigi and Leah were presented to the Summary Court, where they pleaded guilty during the hearing. They were let go with a fine of $1,000.
