Giants vs Dodgers: Casey Schmitt’s first career Grand Slam lifts Giants over Dodgers in series opener

Webb (6-5) was sharp across seven innings, allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out four and walking three — picking up his first win since May 16. He held Shohei Ohtani hitless in four at-bats, including two strikeouts.
The game’s turning point came in the third inning, when Schmitt crushed his first career grand slam — a 423-foot shot to left-center — to break a 1-1 tie. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-5) had loaded the bases with two outs before Schmitt’s blast put the Giants in command.
Yamamoto allowed five runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings, walking a season-high five and striking out four.
Willy Adames opened the scoring for San Francisco with a solo homer in the first. The Dodgers answered in the second, scoring on a sac fly after walks to Freddie Freeman and Will Smith. They added one more on a Teoscar Hernández solo shot in the seventh.
This marks the first meeting of the season between the division rivals — the latest in a season they've faced off since 1999. The Dodgers dominated last year’s series, winning 9 of 13 games, including six of seven at home.
