What is a blue alert
A Blue Alert is an emergency alert system activated when a law enforcement officer has been seriously injured or killed, or when an officer is missing in the line of duty under concerning circumstances. It is designed to quickly disseminate information about the suspect or the missing officer to speed apprehension or locate the missing officer, especially if the suspect may pose a serious threat to the public. In this case, the Georgia Blue Alert was issued because Timothy Craig Ramsey allegedly assaulted an officer and remains at large, considered a threat to public safety.
