Gavin Newsom roasts Karoline Leavitt with savage meme, and a nickname that stings

On Labor Day, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s trolling press office account targeted White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and posted on X, Sept. 2, 2025. The post showed Leavitt photoshopped as Effie Trinket, the flashy character from The Hunger Games movies.

Newsom uses memes to mock Leavitt and Miller

Along with the image, the caption called her “KAROLYIN’ LEAVITT says Happy Labor Day!” giving her a mocking new nickname.

Newsom didn’t stop there, he also shared another meme for the holiday, this time showing White House adviser Stephen Miller as Voldemort from Harry Potter. He had used the same Voldemort joke for Miller just last month in a mocking birthday post, as reported by Huffpost.



Newsom has been using press office X account and is copying Donald Trump’s own social media style, with all-caps rants and edited pictures, sometimes nearly word-for-word.

Newsom explains trolling purpose

At a press conference last week, Newsom said referring to Trump’s extreme online behavior, “We’re putting a mirror up to the lunacy that is Trump’s tweets, and his grift, the madness that is someone that would dress up as the pope and tweet that out or put his face up there on Mount Rushmore, or in a Superman costume,” as stated in the report by Huffpost.

He pointed out examples like Trump putting his face on Mount Rushmore, dressing as the pope asking if the public has wrongly accepted such actions as “normal”, “Why aren’t we calling this out more clearly?”, he added.
