US gas prices have jumped for five straight weeks even as experts have claimed that the rates are 'unlikely' to drop soon, according to a report. Even though the gas prices have been rising, the rates are far behind the record high of $5.01, registered in June last year. The ongoing average for a regular gallon of gas is estimated at $3.50, as per USA Today report.

Gas prices saw a steady downfall till December 22, 20222 as the rates fell t $3.10. Since then the national average of gas prices climbed for five consecutive weeks, including an 8-cent jump.

During the corresponding period last year, the average gas price was $3.36 which means the current average is higher, according to the USA Today report. Experts have predicted the gas prices this year could go up to $4.
