Games Workshop and Amazon sign deal for Warhammer 40k films

The Warhammer 40K universe, loved by fans worldwide and highly popular in the UK, has tied up with Amazon to produce some mega movies. Warhammer 40,000, established in 1987 and has tabletop games for kids and adults, has been able to enter the movie business and achieve higher brand awareness. The games are a mixture of sci-fi and the natural world, where the humans have to fight against aliens and supernatural elements that attack them repeatedly. The franchise, which Games Workshop created, has plenty of tabletop games that kids could play with the role of a dice, more than 300 novels and plenty of video games that have been churned out based on its content.

The contract signed between Amazon and Games Workshop includes television and film content. Andrew Wade, an analyst from Jefferies working on a research note, said that this amalgamation bodes well for the gaming specialist and would have far-reaching value for its brand building and awareness.

Share value for Games Workshop rose 11% at the start of trade on Friday, which is recorded as the highest jump in nine months. The demand for games increased significantly during the pandemic when people stayed indoors and developed hobbies. The shares had, before this, taken a beating until the Amazon deal came up and boosted its fortunes.



Amazon intends to spend close to a billion dollars annually to make movies for theatres. Amazon got into the movie-making business after acquiring MGM for $8.5 billion. MGM is known for producing the yesteryear box office hits Ben-Hur and Legally Blonde.

Henry Cavill, famous for the movies Superman and Mission Impossible-Fallout, plans to act and produce the Warhammer 40,000 movie that is yet to be conceived and filmed.

Games Workshop has kept its performance forecast the same for March 2023.
