US diesel price $5 gallon

Diesel price surge US: Fuel prices are rising across the United States, and many drivers are starting to feel the strain. Diesel has now crossed $5 a gallon, while crude oil prices have climbed about 4% as the ongoing Iran conflict continues to disrupt global energy markets, as per a report.

Why Oil Prices Are Rising Amid Iran Conflict: Brent Crude and WTI Surge Explained

Brent crude jumped to as high as $103 a barrel, compared to the low $70s before the conflict. Meanwhile, US benchmark West Texas Intermediate rose to around $97 per barrel from roughly $65, as per a New York Post report. The surge is closely tied to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route that previously carried about 20% of the world’s oil supply.

Why Gas Prices Jump Across the United States

Gas prices are also moving higher. Regular gasoline now averages about $3.80 per gallon, which is 80 cents more than a month ago, as per AAA, reported New York Post. Prices still vary widely, from the low $3s in some states to over $4.50 on the West Coast.

How Rising Oil Prices Are Impacting Industries

While energy stocks are benefiting from higher oil prices, industries like airlines, cruise lines, and travel companies are facing losses due to rising fuel costs and concerns about demand.

Why US Fuel Prices Follow Global Markets

Even though the US produces a significant amount of oil, domestic fuel prices are still tied to global markets. That means disruptions overseas are quickly reflected at the pump.

Seasonal changes, including the shift to summer-grade gasoline and increased spring demand, are adding further pressure.
