Fortnite server update: ‘When will Fortnite servers be back up?’ This has become a troublesome question as Fortnite players are facing an extended downtime today. This Fortnite server issue started when Epic Games temporarily shut down servers in preparation for the launch of its highly anticipated Simpsons-themed season. The outage follows the conclusion of the end-of-season live event titled “Welcome Our Alien Overlords,” which wrapped up earlier on Friday.

The upcoming Fortnite v38.00 update will bring one of the most awaited collaborations in recent memory, a full Springfield-themed map, a dedicated Simpsons Battle Pass, and new gameplay features across all major platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android devices.

According to Epic Games’ maintenance schedule, Fortnite servers were taken offline at 3:30 PM UTC (11:30 AM ET / 8:30 AM PT) immediately after the “Welcome Our Alien Overlords” live event concluded.


The official last Fortnite Status update as of Nov 01, 2025 - 15:30 UTC confirmed: “In progress—Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.”

In Fortnite status X account’s latest reply to a user on “why fortnite server not responding?” Fortnite replied, “Hey. The servers are currently offline for maintenance. As soon as we have any updates, they will be posted here: status.epicgames.com.”


Epic further stated, “Following the Welcome Our Alien Overlords live event tomorrow at 11 AM ET, Fortnite will go into downtime at 11:30 AM ET (3:30 PM UTC). The v38.00 update drops later the same day, taking us to Springfield.”

When will Fortnite servers be back up?

According to Epic’s official server status page and gaming outlet AllOut Gaming, the downtime is expected to last around five hours. If all goes according to plan, Fortnite servers should be back online by 8 PM GMT (4 PM ET / 1 PM PT).

However, GameSpot notes that Fortnite maintenance rarely ends exactly on schedule, meaning the update could take slightly longer or shorter depending on server conditions and patch size.
