James Vowles, a former Mercedes strategy director, has been assigned as the new team principal for Williams ahead of the 2023 Formula One season.

Jost Capito, who served as Williams' chief executive and team leader for two years, was succeeded by Vowles.

The 43-year-old, who was with Mercedes since the team's foundation in 2010, and with whom the team won eight constructors' titles, will formally join Williams on February 20 after being released from his contract by Mercedes.

According to Vowles, he cannot wait to start work with Williams Racing. He added that it’s an honor to join a team with “such an incredibly rich heritage.”
