Former NFL quarterback Drew Bees draws backlash from lightening strike victims over ‘disgusting’ ad

NFL star Drew Brees has received backlash for his "inappropriate" and "disgusting" advertisement, according to a prominent group that advocates for those who have been struck by lightning.

On Friday, the New Orleans legend gained famous after faking getting hit by lightning for a commercial with PointsBet USA. The ad was used to promote a gambling website.

According to TMZ Sports, Lightning Strike and Electric Shock Survivors International (LSESSI), a group that offers assistance to victims of similar disasters and has members in 13 countries, was incensed by Brees' commercial. This organization assists victims of lightning strikes and electric shocks.

According to LSESSI, "the current Drew Brees lightning advertisement is an unfavourable, uncomfortable way of advertising gambling or any TV marketing campaign." This assessment was made because the commercial features lightning.

Given that lightning and other forms of electrical harm have the potential to be fatal, it is disheartening to see people making light of them to generate amusement and financial gain.

The organization feels it was hard to find any comedy in the ad since so many people who survived accidents and their loved ones were left with permanent disabilities.
