Former Nebraska guard Ashley Scoggin sues over inappropriate relationship
Former Nebraska women's basketball player Ashley Scoggin has filed a civil lawsuit against coach Amy Williams and athletic director Trev Alberts, alleging negligence in addressing her sexual relationship with then-associate head coach Chuck Love.

The lawsuit claims Love targeted Scoggin, leading to a sexual relationship that she felt unable to decline due to fear of retaliation. While Williams declined to comment and Alberts and Love did not respond to requests for comment, Scoggin's attorney emphasized the power imbalance between coaches and student-athletes and the responsibility of universities to prevent and address such situations.
Scoggin was dismissed from the team in February 2022, the same day Love was suspended with pay. He later resigned, and Scoggin transferred to UNLV.
The lawsuit alleges that Love's advances began in 2021 when he offered to mentor Scoggin. Despite being married, Love allegedly persisted in asking her out, eventually leading to a physical encounter that left Scoggin feeling trapped.
The situation came to light when teammates and practice players recorded Scoggin in Love's room, leading to chaos when the video was presented to Williams. The lawsuit claims Williams portrayed Scoggin as a seducer and failed to protect her, ultimately dismissing her from the team.
The lawsuit accuses the university of prioritizing the program's reputation over Scoggin's well-being and failing to acknowledge the impropriety of Love's actions.
