Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms denied service at Capital Grille restaurant for wearing leggings
Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former Mayor of Atlanta, went to a restaurant and was denied seating as she was wearing leggings. She informed her followers on Twitter after posting a tweet. She simply asked if she could sit at the bar and work, and she...

She tweeted on Friday that she was turned away at the Capital Grille, which is in the Perimeter Mall because she was wearing leggings. Someone claimed that the restaurant has a dress code, but the former Mayor stated that it is odd that the restaurant will not allow a mall attire when inside a mall. She was told that rules are rules, and she could not sit at the bar area and work.
She also claimed that the woman who entered immediately after her was not denied service. Keisha claimed that she never saw the lady exit. On its website, the restaurant says that a proper dress code is required to maintain a refined atmosphere and comfort its guests. They claim that clothing like tank tops, hats, gym attire, and clothing that has offensive language will be denied service at the restaurant.
That being said, social media users jumped in and claimed that there had been many instances where white patrons had been granted service even when they had worn at least one of the said prohibited items. Users also posted pictures of such cases.
Actor Daniel Newman took to Twitter and tweeted that her black friend and former Mayor of Atlanta was denied service at the Capital Grille, but folks who are white can be offered service even in gym clothes and T-shirts. Newman also stated that he has dined at the restaurant several times wearing gym shorts, a tank top, or a t-shirt.
He passed a remark and said that he guesses his clothes looked whiter. Maybe that's why there was never any problem.
