Former American Idol contestant Randy Madden, aged 45, has been arrested and faces six felony charges for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a minor between July and September 2025 in Ventura County, California.

The charges include unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation with a person under 18, anal and genital penetration by a foreign object, transmitting harmful matter, luring a minor, and attempting to dissuade a witness from reporting the crime.

Madden was apprehended on October 30, 2025, with the assistance of Ventura County Sheriff's Office near Los Angeles. Following his arrest, he appeared in Ventura County Superior Court via Zoom and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was released on $100,000 bail and is due for a further hearing scheduled for November 13, 2025.

Madden first gained public attention in 2008 as a contestant on Season 8 of American Idol. His audition featured a rendition of Bon Jovi’s 'Livin' on a Prayer,' but he did not receive any votes from the judges and was eliminated early.

After his brief stint on the show, Madden shifted to owning a hair salon and has recently been battling significant health challenges. In 2023, he suffered a severe motorcycle accident that affected his mobility, requiring several surgeries. Madden publicly sought financial support through a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical and living expenses, citing difficulties with unemployment and federal aid.
