Former aide of Donald Trump Karoline Leavitt wins New Hampshire's 1st Congressional district
Karoline Leavitt declared winner in New Hampshire's Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District at The Community Oven restaurant in Hampton.

Leavitt will now square off against incumbent Democrat Chris Pappas to represent the district, which Republicans want to flip as part of their objective of regaining control of the House. In her victory speech, Leavitt stated that everyone claimed she was too young, couldn't raise enough money to run, and couldn't overcome a past Republican nominee.
She screamed that they had been outspent but not outworked the previous year. Former Trump State Department worker Matt Mowers, 33, ran for the seat in 2020 and lost by five percentage points to Pappas. Mowers issued a statement in which he vowed that he would not stop fighting for middle-class families. Though Mowers had a slight lead in surveys over Leavitt before the primary, the most recent University of New Hampshire poll added to the uncertainty, indicating that roughly a fourth of voters were still undecided only two weeks before the election.
The two candidates campaigned on similar themes, presenting themselves as ardent conservatives and political outsiders while highlighting their experience in the Trump administration.
