'Foo Fighters', Alanis Morisette pay tribute to Sinead O' Connor, sing her single 'Mandinka'
Irish rock singer Sinead O’Connor passed away last week, rock band "Foo Fighters" and singer Alanis Morisette paid tribute to her by producing their version of her single 'Mandinka'.

Dave Grohl invited Morisette on the stage at the 2023 Fuji Rock Festival at Japan's Naeba Ski Resort and they produced Sinead’s single to the surprise and amusement of the audience. Addressing the audience, Grohl said that he would do something done never before and invite a dear friend to sing for a very special reason. Morisette came to the stage, joined the band and they sang the song together.
Morisette dedicated her version of Mandinka to Sinead O’ Conner and called her "a beautiful woman with deep empathy and high intelligence" and "way ahead of time". In her post on her Instagram account, Morisette wrote, "Sinead was a profound inspiration to many. And to me. Her passion, poetry, and unapologetic xpression raised the bar on artistry and female empowerment."
Sinead O’Connor died at the age of 56, fighting cancer. She raked up controversy way back in the earlier days of her career when she protested against Pope John Paul II, criticized him, and tore up his photograph for failing to stop child abuse in the Roman Catholic church. Later, she refused to apologize.
