Floyd Roger Myers Jr., best known for his roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Jacksons: An American Dream, has died at the age of 42. The actor passed away early Wednesday morning, October 29, at his home in Maryland after suffering a heart attack, according to TMZ, which cited his mother, Renee Trice.

Floyd Roger Myers Jr.'s cause of death

Renee Trice told TMZ that her son had previously suffered three heart attacks in the past three years. She shared that she last spoke to him just hours before his passing. “This is not suppose to be so,” she later wrote in an emotional Facebook post, sharing a picture of her son alongside his four children.



Who was Floyd Roger Myers Jr.

Myers rose to fame as a child actor in the early 1990s. He first appeared as a young Will Smith in a 1992 episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air during its third season. That same year, he portrayed a young Marlon Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream, the popular TV miniseries chronicling the Jackson family’s rise to musical fame. He also made an appearance in Young Americans, a short-lived WB drama series, in 2000.

Floyd Roger Myers Jr family

Myers was a devoted father of four, Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched by his sister, Tyree Trice, to help cover funeral expenses.

“Roger leaves behind his four beautiful children — Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox — and our loving family is now facing the unimaginable loss of someone who meant everything to us,” the post reads.

The GoFundMe page describes Myers as “a devoted father, loving brother, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone he met.”

The Fellaship Men’s Group pays respect

Beyond his acting career, Myers co-founded The Fellaship Men’s Group, an organization dedicated to empowering men to “lead, heal & thrive,” according to its Instagram page.

Following his death, the group shared a touching tribute on Instagram: “RIP to our good brother @rocwonder one of our co-founders. Gone but never will be forgotten. The mission will continue in your honor. Next men’s meeting will be one for the books like we talked about! Love you bro, rest easy, big bro will take it from here.”

According to the GoFundMe page, Myers’ funeral is scheduled for Monday, November 3.
