A social media feud ends in a Florida teen’s brutal murder in the woods

A Florida teenager was tragically killed after being lured into the woods by one of her alleged killers, who claimed to have a crush on her, her mother said. Danika Troy, 14, was reported missing on Dec. 1. The next day, her body was found in a wooded area in Pace after a passerby alerted authorities. She had been shot multiple times and her body set on fire, according to police reports.

The incident underscores the dark side of social media, where online disputes can escalate into real-world violence. It serves as a tragic reminder of how digital interactions can have deadly consequences.

“I still need answers. I’m just left asking why. She just wanted to be in love,” Danika’s mother, Ashley Troy, said. The teen suspects are currently being held in juvenile detention without the possibility of bond.

"Blevins and Williams were identified by authorities as the key suspects, with investigators linking the murder to a conflict on social media during Thanksgiving break.

Police say the motive for the attack was retaliation after Danika blocked Blevins online and called Williams 'worthless and a gang banger.’

Ashley rejected the suspects’ alleged motive, saying, 'What those boys said is an excuse.’ Authorities confirmed suspects have had prior run-ins with police, but specifics were not released because they are minors.

Following the tragic murder, Avalon Baptist Church in nearby Milton, where the Troy family worships, will hold a candlelight vigil Monday night in Danika’s memory.

Ashley Troy told The Post that although she blames an 'evil influence' for the horrific killing, she wants the teens to face 'the full extent of the law.
