Florida teacher is facing probe for showing Disney cartoon movie 'Strange World' in class
Teacher in Florida is facing probe after she had shown Disney cartoon movie "Strange World" in the classroom.

Jenna Barbee, a fifth-grade teacher at Hernando County School, alleged that school board member reported to the Florida Department of Education against her for showing 2022 movie "Strange World". "Strange World" is a first movie from Disney production house which features an openly gay character.
However, Barbee has claimed that Disney film "Strange World" was related to Earth science lesson only.
Florida Parental Rights in Education Act, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis last year, prohibits educators in the state from teaching about gender and sexual identity.
The movie "Strange World" was released in theatres in November, 2023.
The feature film introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures, Walt Disney Animation Studios stated.
"Inspired by classic adventure stories," said director Don Hall, Strange World is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world."
