Much of the northern part of the Plains will be dry, but some pockets of rain will develop near the Great Lakes before the southern storm. Most of the Northeast has a dry and chilly day in store, but clouds may be extensive across the interior.

The pressure gradient between a storm over Baja California and high pressure over southern Oregon will likely lead to a period of Santa Ana winds over Southern California on Friday evening into early Saturday. Winds may gust past 40 mph through canyons and passes.
