Flash flood warning in Boston: Residents of Bristol County, Massachusetts, and parts of Rhode Island are waking up to warnings about bad weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) has put out a flash flood warning that will stay in effect until 10:45 a.m. local time. Severe alert has been declared from the Boston 25 Weather Team.

Meteorologists warn that heavy rain and thunderstorms could cause dangerous flooding in some areas. Officials are telling drivers and people who live there to take safety steps right away, as quoted in a report by Boston 25 News.

Authorities stressed caution, safety, “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

The NWS warning is for Bristol County in Massachusetts and several cities in Rhode Island, such as Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Coventry, Cumberland, and more. Other places that might be affected by flash flooding include Attleboro, Smithfield, Barrington, Swansea, and Rehoboth.

In her most recent forecast, Boston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear stated that 1 to 2 inches of rain, with localized totals of 3 to 4 inches, are likely.

The rain will affect both morning and evening commutes, and the weather will be humid with temperatures in the low 70s.
