Five Nights At Freddy’s: Will the horror movie get a sequel?

Five Nights At Freddy’s is finally available, fans are excitedly anticipating the potential sequel of the movie.

Five Nights at Freddy's (also known as FNAF) is set in a spine-chilling pizzeria filled with mechanical animals with a dark agenda. Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Freddy, and Golden Freddy are among the spooky, mechanised pizza parlour occupants. These robotic nightmares, fuelled by a desire to damage, add up to a terrifying cinematic experience not for the faint of heart. Freddy, a giant teddy bear with a desire for murder, is at the heart of this mechanical mayhem.

The premise sounds exactly like a beautifully classic horror movie. Surprisingly, it took Universal and Blumhouse a long time to adapt Five Nights at Freddy's as a humorous horror film when the game initially came out in 2014. Now that the film is finally available, fans are excitedly anticipating the potential of a sequel.

Emma Tammi, the director of the movie, addressed the burning issue on every fan's mind in a recent interview with Inverse before the film's release: is Five Nights at Freddy's 2 in the works?

"Yes, I would for sure," Tammi replied, which would be music to every FNAF fan's ears.

She also intimated that the success of the current film will determine the destiny of the sequel. She said that she thinks they would all be really excited to dive into that if this one does well, and if it seems like audiences have an appetite for that, they would be so excited to make it.

Tammi also spoke to Variety ahead of the film's premiere about bringing video game lore into the film, why PG-13 is the ideal rating, and teased plans for sequels.

Given the enthusiastic response from both fans and audiences to the first installment - the film has already grossed USD 34 million on October 27th - Emma Tammi and her team are very likely to develop Five Nights at Freddy's 2. However, there has been no formal confirmation of the sequel's production as of yet. Given the favorable box office results, animatronic figures are more likely than not to return to continue their spooky legacy.

As per the reports the franchise does have a long line of video games to base their sequel on, so that would be no problem. The director's primary concern is whether the debut film will break any box office records.

Tammi, Scott Cawthon, and Seth Cuddeback wrote the screenplay for this unsettling movie experience. Josh Hutcherson stars as security guard Mike Schmidt, and the cast also includes Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard.

Five Nights at Freddy's was released in theaters on October 27, 2023, marking a watershed moment for fans and horror enthusiasts alike.
