The originally scheduled date for the launch of the Alpha rocket was September 11. However, it was called off because of the rocket's helium pressure drop. Besides, many other attempts did not happen before the launch on October 1.

Firefly Alpha rocket, a new aerospace company, later confirmed that the rocket had successfully reached its orbit. It is the second launch of the aerospace company from Vandenberg Space Force Base, located in California. The first Alpha rocket was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base on September 2, 2021.

However, it could not reach its intended orbit. Last September, the first rocket of Firefly exploded shortly after its takeoff.

The rocket explosion had scattered the debris in several parts of the Central Coast. While informing about the explosion, the aerospace company stated that the rocket suffered an anomaly during the first stage of the ascent.

As for the latest launch on October 1, people in the Lompoc area reportedly were just able to hear the sound of the takeoff and not see the rocket ascent. The foggy weather conditions did not allow the people to see the rocket take off.
