A really frustrated 28-year-old husband asked a pertinent question on Reddit's AITA platform after having a disagreement with his wife, also 28. Both of them got married in March earlier this year after knowing each other for over five years. Both of them are working and maintain a joint account for shared expenses and investments, while keeping personal accounts for individual spending.

They earn roughly the same, but the husband saves about $1,500 more each month, whereas the wife spends freely on non-essential items, often influenced by Instagram.

They have been planning their honeymoon to Bali for months, and one night discussed booking it. The husband found a good deal and suggested they should secure it immediately. I offered that she book my ticket while I booked hers, but she asked me to book both, promising to pay me back later.

While her request isn’t unreasonable, the husband believes major life events - honeymoon, travel, children - should be approached only when financially ready. The husband declined, which led her to call him “greedy” and make stereotypical remarks about husbands paying. The discussion escalated into a quarrel, and they both are not on talking terms now. I’m looking for a fair perspective.

The post received lots of responses, with most users offering financial advice to the husband, warning about issues like financial infidelity or potential incompatibility. Some commenters even went as far as suggesting that the marriage itself might have been a mistake.
