Final Fantasy XIV finally coming to Xbox after PC, PlayStation. Release date, other details of video game

The highly praised massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIV or FFXIV, is at last making its way to the Xbox platform. The announcement was made during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest keynote, where Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and game director Naoki Yoshida revealed this exciting news and the fan base couldn’t be any happier now.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer said during the announcement, "We want to bring the Xbox community and your warriors of light together, in a way that is safe, secure, engaging, and, above all, fun."

Taking it to social media, Phil Spencer wrote on Twitter, now X, "Enjoyed being onstage with Yoshi-P and Kiryu-san to announce Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox. We’re thrilled that the Xbox community will join the Warriors of Light and we look forward to partnering closely with Square Enix on future games."




Xbox swiftly responded to the Boss’s announcement saying, “BRB [be right back] adding "Warrior of Light" to our business cards. (sic)”



Final Fantasy XIV debuted in 2013 and was exclusively available on PC and PlayStation consoles. Of all the other requests, game makers received; strong desire to play it on Xbox always topped the list. Now, that wish has been granted and FFXIV will soon be available on Xbox Series S / X, offering faster loading times and 4K resolution on the Series X.

The good news is that Xbox players won't have to wait for the latest expansion to enjoy the game. The Xbox version is set to launch in spring 2024, and an open beta is planned around the release of patch 6.5. Moreover, progress made during beta will carry forward to the full version.
