FIFA World Cup 2022: Check which teams qualify for Round of 16 in Qatar

As the group matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar has finished, and now the round of 16 stage has come.

Eight groups were created from the 32 participating teams in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, spanning from Group A to Group H, in the first phase. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the FIFA World Cup 2022 Round of 16, which marks the beginning of the knockout stages and features a single-headed round robin format in which each team plays the other once.

France, who are the defending champions, became the first team to reach the Round of 16 after winning both of their group matches. They defeated Australia 4-1 whereas Les Bleus defeated Denmark.


The Netherlands' campaign has been spearheaded in a similar way by Cody Gakpo, who has assisted them in moving on as the highly rated team from Group A and into the Round of 16. The winner of Group B, England, won the top spot in group with two victories and a draw. Christian Pulisic's goal in the pivotal championship match against Iran helped the USA men's football team progress.

Despite playing without their star player Neymar, who was out because of injury, Brazil won their opening two games to move to the next stage. After overcoming Ghana 3-2 and Uruguay 3-2, Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, have also successfully progressed from Group G. Lionel Messi-led Argentina overcame a shock loss to Saudi Arabia to move ahead from Group C. By having a higher goal difference, Poland, which came in second place, managed to hold off a serious challenge from Mexico.



The Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will feature 12 teams: England, the Netherlands, Argentina, Australia, Senegal, USA, France, Poland, Morocco, Brazil, Croatia and Portugal.

Qatar was the first team to exit the competition for a spot in the Round of 16 after losing their first two games. The hosts' season came to an unfortunate end when they lost all three of their group games.
