Olivier Giroud has now become France's all-time top scorer. He has netted 52 times in 117 matches, surpassing the previous record of 51 goals by Thierry Henry.

Earlier, the 36-year-old footballer had equalled the record of Thierry Henry's 51 goals after scoring two goals against Australia. France played against Australia in their opening game at the group stage and secured a win with a 4-1 score.
While Henry had scored 51 goals in 123 matches played between 1997 and 2010, Giroud broke the record by netting 52nd times on his 117th appearance for France. Besides Henry and Giroud, other players who are on the list of France's all-time top scorers are Antoine Griezmann, Michel Platini, Karim Benzema, and Kylian Mbappe.
While Griezmann netted 42 times in 108 games, Platini scored 41 in 72 matches. Benzema, who had to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to a thigh injury, has scored 37 goals in 97 games. Noticeably, Mbappe, who is 23 years old, has already netted 31 times in just 61 appearances for France.
Giroud also plays as a forward for the football club AC Milan.
