Not only for players but participation in a FIFA World Cup final is a highly desirable thing for match officials, including referees, as well. And now Szymon Marciniak, the Polish referee, will be officiating at the FIFA World Cup 2022 final between Argentina and France.

Earlier in the tournament, the Polish official gave good performances in France vs Denmark (group stage) and Argentina vs Australia (Round of 16 stage) matches.

Italian legendary referee Pierluigi Collina, who led the cohort of referees in the World Cup, announced Marciniak will be the official for the final.

There were many other referees in the line-up for officiating the World Cup final, but Marciniak was the favourite among them.

American referee Ismael Elfath came into the race after Morocco, the country of his birth, was knocked out in the semi-final match. Meanwhile, Mexican referee Cesar Ramos was not considered an apt option as his first language is Spanish, making it easier for him to communicate with the Argentinan players.
