The excitement surrounding the expanded FIFA Club World Cup is palpable, but in Miami, ticket sales tell a different story. FIFA is slashing prices with empty seats remaining and the opener only a few days away.

Ticket prices for the FIFA Club World Cup opener in Miami have dropped dramatically, with seats for Inter Miami vs. Al Ahly costing $55. Despite Messi's popularity, the Hard Rock Stadium remains underbooked.

Why are ticket prices crashing so close to kickoff?

FIFA and its local partners are offering steep discounts, hoping that interest will grow as the tournament progresses. Teams and supporters are getting ready for the first-ever 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, which will start this Saturday in Miami and take place in 12 different US locations.

There is still plenty of time and stock left to see the action if you are still interested in purchasing tickets for any of the eight games at Hard Rock Stadium.

On Saturday, June 14th, at 8:00 p.m., Inter Miami will play Al Ahly FC at Hard Rock Stadium in the tournament's opening match.

According to The Athletic, FIFA and Miami Dade College have teamed up to provide a deal for college students. Students can buy one ticket for $20 and get "up to four complimentary tickets" to Inter Miami's opening game on Saturday, June 14.

FIFA has drastically reduced the price of some tickets for their game opener to less than $60 because the stadium is still empty.

There are still plenty of opportunities for non-college students to watch Messi and company play on Saturday, June 14th, or support a different team participating in one of the eight games held in Miami, which includes two knockout games and six group stage matches.

According to The Athletic, on June 3, Ticketmaster reduced the price of Inter Miami vs. Al Ahly opening tickets to $55. May was half the price of the cheapest seat, which cost $230 in January and $349 after the December draw.

With Inter Miami's prices increasing for each group stage match, FIFA anticipates that ticket
