The first two rounds of the competition feature game between clubs from Africa, Oceania, Asia, and North America. At the semifinal stage, the European (Real Madrid) and South American champions (Flamengo) join the battle.
First Round
Al Ahly (Egypt), who finished second in Africa, and Auckland City (New Zealand), who won Oceania, will compete for a place in the Second Round.
Second Round
The victor of the First Round match is combined with the winners of the Asian champion Al Hilal, the African champion Wydad Casablanca, and the North American champion Seattle Sounders to determine which two clubs move on to the semifinals.
Semi Finals
The draw will determine which of the Second-Round winners will take on Flamengo, the South American champions, and Real Madrid the European champions.

The two losers from the semifinals compete for third place and a podium position.
Finals
On February 11, the semifinal winners will have the chance to compete for the FIFA Club World Cup trophy, with Real Madrid and Flamengo the favorites to face off for the title.
