Ferrari’s first Electric Vehicle to be launched. Why does it cost more than other e-vehicles?
Ferrari has announced its decision to manufacture e-vehicles. The company’s entry into this space comes at a time when consumers are moving away from purchasing e-vehicles in favor of hybrid vehicles.

Ferrari’s e-vehicle:
This upcoming e-vehicle has been priced at 500,000 euros (approximately $535,000). This is just the basic price and does not include add on features and personalization which generally cost an additional amount which is 15-20% of the sale price. The price of this vehicle is more than the average sales price for other Ferrari vehicles in the first quarter of this year which was recorded at 350,00 Euros ($376,000). This is higher than the price offered by other e-vehicle manufacturers. Ferrari is counting on its high-income clientele for the success of its e-vehicle.On Friday, the company will be inaugurating its new plant in the Italian city of Maranello which will be dedicated to manufacturing the electric model. This factory will also manufacture certain other petrol vehicles and hybrid models.
This vehicle is expected to hit the market at the end of 2025.
Changing consumer preferences:
Ferrari’s entry into the EV space has come at a time when consumers are moving away from the space due to concerns over high cost and lack of charging infrastructure. In an AAA survey, 63% of the consumers said that they would not purchase an electric vehicle. Many of the people who purchase e-vehicles are high income consumers.
