Feast of the Sacred Heart: What is the celebration all about & when is it celebrated, here's all you need to know
The Roman Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Sacred Heart every year. This year it will be observed on June 24, 2022

The event will be celebrated on Friday, June 24 with eight feast masses in San Antonio Village, Makati City at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The holy feast masses will be held at different timings i.e. 6:00 am, 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:15 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and at 7:30 pm. will preside over
The 9 am mass will be headed by Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula. Similarly, the 10:30 am mass will be presided by Manila Archbishop Emeritus Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, while Monsignor Clemente Ignacio will head the 12:15 pm Eucharistic celebration.
The pope-approved, first official mass of the Sacred Heart was organised in June 1765 in Poland and Portugal. After many years of successful events, the Sacred Feast covered major parts of the Europe until 1856. Then, Pope Pius IX ordered the Feast of the Sacred Heart to be mandatory for the whole church. Since the 19th century, the Feast of the Sacred Heart has been an integral part of the Catholic Church’s calendar.
When is the Feast of the Sacred Heart celebrated?
The Feast of the Sacred Heart event happens on Friday after Corpus Christi, which is approx. 19 days after the Pentecost Sunday.
