Fast X box office collection: 'Fast and Furious' movie sees 2nd best worldwide debut of 2023 after 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'

"Fast X" box office collection report is out and the "Fast and Furious" franchise film has made a stunning debut at the global box office.

"Fast X", the 10th installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, managed an opening of $319 million at the global box office. "Fast X" has the second best worldwide debut of 2023. The best worldwide debut of the year still remains with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie", according to reports.

The worldwide collection of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" stood at $1.2 billion. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," which is now in its seventh weekend earned an additional $9.8 million in North America, bringing its domestic total to $541.7 million.

Fast X Worldwide Box Office Collection

In the international box office (84 markets), "Fast X" has collected $251.4 million. The is the second best start at the international market for a "Fast and Furious" franchise film after "The Fate of the Furious".


The top earning market for "Fast X" has been China with $78.3 million, followed by Mexico with $16.7 million. And it adds up to a $319 million global debut — the third biggest of the franchise. (Global or worldwide box office collection figures include collection from international markets and domestic box office of North America.)

"Fast X" knocked "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" out of first place and easily claiming the number 1 spot at the domestic box office of North America. "Fast X" earned $67.5 million in ticket sales from 4,046 North American theaters, according to estimates from Universal Pictures on Sunday.

It’s on the lower end of openings for the series which peaked with "Furious 7’s" $142.2 million launch, the sole movie in the series to surpass $100 million out of the gates. "Fast X’s" domestic debut only ranks above the first three. The last movie, 'F9', opened to $70 million in 2021.

Directed by Louis Leterrier (who took over from Justin Lin during production), "Fast X" brings back the familiar crew including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster and adds several newcomers, like Brie Larson, Rita Moreno and a villain played by Jason Momoa. The ever-expanding cast also includes Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren.

The movie cost $340 million to produce, not including marketing, according to reports.
