Kamala Harris's presidential campaign has spent over $11 million pushing out commercials on a relatively obscure Facebook page called "The Daily Scroll," which boasts only about 1,000 followers. These commercials are tied to her campaign but do not explicitly solicit dollars or urge people to go to her website; instead, they are solely designed to highlight favorable coverage of her in established news outlets like CNN, ABC, and NBC-coverage most specifically likely to sway undecided voters in swing states, as per a report.

Ads targeted to key states

Harris' ads, viewed 700 million times, mainly go to seven battleground states, namely- Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina. The positive stories emphasized are relief on inflation and affordable insulin; however, they place a significant emphasis on the negative stories about her opponent Donald Trump, CNN reported.

High Spending of Harris vs. Trump

Harris spent significantly more than Trump on Meta platforms, nearly $80 million in ads since this summer while Trump's expenditure for this was a paltry $9.4 million. It is only one part of an overarching media campaign to reach the electorate through many channels.

While it is true that very few wonder whether this campaign is worth the effort since "The Daily Scroll" page hardly has a lot of followers, experts like Peter Loge from George Washington University argue that the ads are clear and were thus labelled appropriately as part of the campaigns, in line with Meta's advertising policy.
