Students of a fake Michigan University have now got an option of suing the US Government over activities by ICE agents which involved them getting duped of thousands of dollars in tuition fees. This was made possible following a ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, who have ruled in favor of the students who had been arrested by ICE agents for studying at University of Farmington in Farmington Hills.

ICE agents create fake details of University, reflect it on their website to make it look legitimate

According to USA Today, this University of Farmington was in fact created by ICE agents themselves to catch visa fraud happening in the country, especially involving students who come to the United States to pursue their academics and professional careers. ICE agents set up a fake website, address and University details, similar to a regular University administrative process, and was even listed on the ICE official website, as an enlisted University by the US Government, in an attempt to improve legitimacy.

ICE creates fake University for international students in a bid to catch visa fraud

Hundreds of students enrolled at this University in pursuit of a bright academic future, most of whom were immigrants from India. However, it was later alleged that these students had come from far off lands in a bid to 'pay and stay' in the United States, which these students denied, claiming that they were here to study science and technology at the University.

Soon after, these students were arrested, some deported and some made to leave the country, without returning their tuition fees and admission expenses incurred. Many of the students claimed that they were legitimate and had just come here to study and not with any ulterior motives but ICE did not seem to budge from their stand.
