The Formula 1 world and Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes team condemned the disrespectful, racist language uttered against Lewis Hamilton by ex-F1 champion Nelson Piquet.

The three-time F1 world champion used a derogatory term on a podcast in November 2021 while discussing last year's British Grand Prix. Recently, the comments have come to light after being exposed on social media platforms.

Nelson Piquet commented based on his daughter Kelly's relationship with Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. The Brazilian criticised Hamilton's driving at Silverstone as Hamilton made contact with Verstappen on an explosive first lap.

On that account, Verstappen was rushed to the hospital after hurtling into the barriers. On the other hand, Hamilton completed the race and bagged the title on his home ground for the eighth time.

Piquet accused Hamilton of the fault and called him a derogatory racial remark, which was primarily missed by Brazilian media.

During an interview on a Brazilian show, Piquet called Hamilton with a racial slur saying that he (Hamilton) came ahead with his car where there was no place for passing two cars. According to Piquet, it was Hamilton's ignorance as he put his car in the wrong way on the track's corner. Then, the British F1 champion didn't let the other driver pass. Piquet added that it was Hamilton's luck that Verstappen was out of the race.

After the video was exposed on social media by Brazilian outlet Estadao, Formula 1 responded in a statement slamming all sorts of racist or discriminatory language as the information conveyed that any use of racist or discriminatory language is unacceptable. They cleared the air by saying that Lewis Hamilton is an incredible ambassador in the F1 world, and he deserves respect.

Hamilton's team Mercedes also condemned Piquet's derogatory racial comment and acknowledged Hamilton's spearheading effort to combat racism.
