Expend4bles box-office collection: Sylvester Stallone's Expendables 4 starts slow. Here's how it has collected so far
'Expend4bles' or 'Expendables 4' has a lacklustre opening in the box-office. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham's film has failed to match the pre-release projections made by box-office experts.

Prior to the weekend, it was anticipated that the Lionsgate and Millennium-produced "Expendables 4" would have an opening of around $15 million from 3,400 theaters in North America. However, the film fell short of expectations, garnering only $3.2 million in Friday grosses, including $750,000 from Thursday evening previews.
These opening weekend numbers pale in comparison to its predecessors in the "Expendables" series. "Expendables 3", which was released in 2014, had an opening of $15.8 million, the 2012 sequel collected $28.5 million, and the original "Expendables", which hit theatres way back in 2010, brought in $34.8 million during their respective debut weekends.
Considering that "Expend4bles" had a budget of $100 million and was financed by Millennium, initial expectations had placed its opening in the range of $15 million, with some optimistic estimates suggesting it could reach as high as $17 million.
'Expend4bles', a Lionsgate release, has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association "for strong/bloody violence throughout, language and sexual material." Running time: 103 minutes.
